Traveling With a Cat: How to Make Carrier Trips Less Stressful

For many cats, the carrier means one thing: a trip to the vet. No wonder some of them vanish when they see it. With a little practice, you can help your cat see the carrier as a safe place.

Leave the carrier out
Keep it in a room your cat uses, with the door open. Place a soft blanket inside so it feels like another cozy spot.
Use treats and meals
Drop treats near it, then inside it. Over time, you can serve small meals inside. Go at your cat's pace.
Practice short trips
Close the door for a few seconds, then reward. Slowly increase the time, then try carrying the carrier around the house.
Choose a carrier that is easy to use
- Good airflow: mesh sides help your cat stay calm and let you see them.
- Comfortable carrying: padded straps and handles make trips easier on you.
- Right size: your cat should be able to stand up and turn around. Check the weight limit.
- Easy storage: a collapsible design saves space at home.
On the day
Cover the carrier with a light blanket to reduce stress, keep it level while carrying, and keep the car quiet. Never leave your cat alone in a parked car.
Our Collapsible Cat Carrier has four-sided mesh and a padded shoulder strap, and it folds down when you're not using it. It's designed for pets up to 7 kg.
